Step One:
Area is marked out for excavation.
Step Two :
We Excavate to a depth of 100 mm leaving a slight fall for water run off.
Step Three :
The area is filled with 75mm crushed rock and a 5mm layer of crushed dust or sand.
Step Four :
Prepare base - level out, spray water over base and then compact with vibrating plate whacker.. Make sure no stones are protruding above level surface. Keep base 20mm below original surface.
Step Five :
The Grass is laid in the same direction each time.
Step Six :
Cut off excess turf with a sharp knife. To ensure straight cuts, use the same row of yarn as your latex backing.
Step Seven :
Fold back the seams of both rolls – keep clear of glue. Add adhesive glue to tape with notched trowel. Place one side of grass to middle of the tape, then the other to match up with the other piece. Mesh the fibre together with fingers or brush.
Step Eight :
Infill sand and / or rubber crumb if required. This acts as an anchor to hold down the grass. Nail down the perimeter with 150 mm galvanized nails every 400 – 500 mm. Apply the sand evenly with a drop spreader or sprinkle with a shovel.
Step Nine :
Broom grass back in the opposite direction to the turf – this allows the sand to infiltrate. Apply same procedure as rubber.
Apply approx 10kg of sand / sq metre; for a softer feel use 1-3 kg of rubber infill / sq metre.
... Your new synthetic lawn is now ready for use!
